In mid-January, a working scientific video seminar was held with colleagues from the N.G. Chernyshevsky Saratov State University, Department of Medical Physics (Head of Department, Prof. A.V. Skripal). The discussion focused on the modern optical methods and instruments for non-invasive evaluation of blood perfusion in tissues, as well as of tone and reactivity of peripheral vessels. Each team presented their slides, ideas and a view on the issue, based on their recent research results. The goal of the seminar was to harmonize positions on terms and definitions, as well as to explore interesting problematic issues through a joint, coordinated experiment. Colleagues from Saratov presented interesting data on the reflected blood flow from small peripheral vessels, which creates a reverse blood flow from the periphery to the heart at the end of the pulse wave. Our laboratory clarified once more our position on the Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) and presented new data on blood flow dynamics in the limb during total arterial occlusion. The discussion is currently ongoing via correspondence between scientific groups.
